ARNOLD FIRLOTTE
1983-1986

Arnold Firlotte was born in Campbellton in 1937 the son of Howard and Irene (Boudreau) Firlotte. He graduated from the Assomption Academy spending the next twelve years in the Royal Canadian Airforce. He returned to Campbellton and had a career as an Insurance adjuster.

He was on the Executive and General Manager of the Hardy Cup Campbellton Tigers from 1971 to 1978. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Lions Club and served on Meals on Wheels and the Village Nursing Home. .He was elected a City Counselor prior to becoming Mayor.

His Mayoralty term continued Campbellton’s transformation into a more modern Regional Center. He collaborated with governments and private interests tn the building of the Regional Hospital, the Lighthouse Youth Hostel, housing, retail and additional waterfront improvements.

In 1983 he and his wife Ann hosted the Royal Visit of Prince Charles and Lady Diana including the signing by Prince Charles of a Royal Proclamation regarding Campbellton’s city status.

He was inducted into the Cambellton Sports Hall of Fame (twice)and also into the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame with the Campbellton Tigers as General Manager.
