William Albert Mott
was the 4th mayor of Campbellton
and he achieved this honor at age 28, in 1892

He was born in Campbellton on Nov. 29/1864
of the lawful marriage of William Mott and Penelope Stewart
who were both of Scotish descent.

William Sr. was the son of David Mott and Margaret Ann Gordon of NewCastle NB
Penelope was the daughter of Dugald Stewart and Hannah Good
(Dugald and Hannah married Feb. 12/1844)

Penelope's ancestors arrived in Canada at Malpeque, PEI in 1760

William Albert married Sept. 25/1894 at age 29
to Harriet E. Henderson who was aged 22 years
and daughter of John Henderson and Elizabeth Gailbraight
all of Campbellton.

Harriet Elizabeth Henderson Mott later became Registrar of Deeds
for Restigouche County and remained so for many many years

Some of William Sr.'s brothers and sisters were :

David (who married Christina Duncan on Nov. 9/1871)
John (married Ellen ?) , Adam, Archibald, Mary Ann, Margaret, Catherine

William Albert left Campbellton and went to Saint John
studied in law and was admitted to the Bar of NB in 1888
Returning to Campbellton, he went into law partnership
with John McAllister forming the McAllister and Mott
law firm.

In 1893 he was replaced as Mayor by A.E. Alexander
In 1895 he was elected to the House of Assembly of NB
He was re-elected to a second term in 1899
and served until 1903 at which time the House
was dissolved and he then retired from politics

He was one who voted against giving women the rights to vote

William Albert Mott died in Saint John NB Dec. 1/1911
at age 47 and was buried in the Rural Cemetery in Campbellton
