Most of the time these were made for
Christmas holidays and people still
tend to make them at that time of year
Make Pie dough same as usual :)
Depending how many pies you wish to make
using half and half of pork and beef
throw in a rabbit, some deer, moose, partridge
any or all of the above can be used
for 4 pounds of meat
cut in small cubes
add
one large onion
Salt and Pepper to taste
summer savory to taste
Cook for about 2 hours, simmering
til meat is well cooked
let cool, then either cut up meat
with knives til its mushy and
cubes no longer exist or
more modern way is to place in
a meat grinder and grind the meat
to look like hamburger meat
adding an other onion and a few slices
of bread to the mixture to firm it up
Place in your pie crust and cook
at 350 degrees til crust is golden
they can be eaten hot or cold
can be frozen and kept for months
great to take on picnics or holidays
at any time of year but we tend to
make them for Christmas holidays only
