Moffats from the Restigouche County Census of 1851

Moffat George age 35, from Scotland, came to New Brunswick in 1830 and a merchant
wife Mary age 37 also Scotish came to NB in 1821
children listed:
Mary age 13
John age 10
Robert age 8
James age 6
George age 4
and a 7 week old infant

There is also a Mary Moffat who is age 16 listed in Dalhousie and a servant at Mary Delaney, a widow and an Innkeeper

In the 1861 Restigouche Co. census, John is age 22 and a lodger in the home of James Ritchie, he is also listed as being a clerk and living in the Addington parish (Campbellton probably)

George's family is in Dalhousie in 1861 and listed as such:

Mary daughter age 23
Robert son age 18
James age 16
George age 14
Irvine son age 10
Arthur Ritchie a 23 yr old clerk, Bridget Power (?) a servant aged 20 and William Steven a 21 year old clerk are also living with them.

In the 1871 Restigouche County census, John is listed as age 29, Head of Family, a General Merchant and has the following people living with him
Tessie Moors age 39, John Moors age 9, William Smith, age 38 and John Bell age 24.
The Moors and Smith are listed as being from Quebec.

George's family is still in Dalhousie and listed as
Moffat George age 58, merchant
wife Mary age 58
Children living with them were
John age 30 (maybe he is listed twice?)
Robert age 28
George age 23
James age 25
Irving age 18
they have Thomas Shore age 12 a servant living there and Charles Henry age 47, and African listed as a laborer

In the 1881 Restigouche County census
John Moffat is listed as age 40 and a lumberer living in the Addington parish and now married to Eliza (Gillis, married at Tide Head, NB, Mar. 2/1876) she is listed as being age 30
They have two children, George age 4 and Mary Jane age 2
Elizabeth Moores age 30 (from Quebec) and daughter Mary age 1 is living with them and Elizabeth is listed as being a servant

James Moffat is also married by now he is age 36, a merchant in the parish of Dalhousie, and him and his wife Ann (Cavanagh, married Apr. 30/1875) who is age 30 have the following children
Mary age 6, Scott age 5 and George age 2
