James Quinn's Petition 1866

The Petition reads as follows:
Read in Council on the 2nd March 1866
and passed on order there on.

To his Worship the Mayor and the Municipal Council of the Township of Mann"
The Petition of James Quinn Ferryman
Shewith
That your Petitioner heard that your Council at their last session passed a resolution appointing him Ferryman for the year 1866, on conditions that he was to ferry the inhabitants of both sides of the river on Sundays to and from divine Services free of charge.

That such ferryage free of charge on Sundays would deprive your Petitioner of receiving any remuneration from the inhabitants of New Brunswick and would entail an additional expense in men and conveyances.

That your Petitioner therefore humbly prays that your Council will be pleased to take his case into your favourable consideration and obtain for him a simular License to that given last year.

? as in duty bound will ever pray
