Angus MacLean Jr. (1811-c1885)

Born in Quebec city, November 9/1835 Angus was baptized 5 days later in St Andrews Presbyterian Church.

Angus married Margaret Hamilton on August 13/1834, daughter of John Hamilton and Catherine Kennedy (they came from the Isle of Arran in 1829)

Innitially Angus and Margaret lived on the western half of the Lot 9 in black Land which he had purchased from his parents. April 12/1837 they sold that property to Hugh McKenzie (w2ho was married to her sister Catherine Ann), then on April 18/1839, Angus purchased from James McPherson Jr. Lot 1 of the Black Land Estate granted to James McPherson Sr. That property became the permanent home of the family.

Like father like son, Angus was a farmer and fisherman. Margaret died in 1859 and she is buried in New Mills cemetery. On May 10/1860, Angus married Janet McIntyre a native of Scotland. They had no family.

In September of 1880, Angus died of a stroke while at dinner. He is also buried in New Mills Cemetery.
